KENJI / internment / hiroshima

May 6, 2008

my friend frank (we've worked together on most of the art for LP packaging, etc.) sent me a link to this video above. his aunt is a teacher, and a student of hers did it. i think it's great.

i know there are a few fan videos out there for the song "kenji," and many other FM / LP songs. i just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who makes fan videos to our songs. they're great!

on that note, someone also sent me a link to new photos of the aftermath of the hiroshima atom bomb. they are new photos, found in a cave. the photographer is unknown. please be warned, these are extremely graphic.

No kidding...those comments were brutal. It's sad to see how apathetic some americans can be. So ignorant sometimes...the government isn't that great...but whatever. Damn...that was horrible....

This song is by far my fave on RT. The pics were horrible - but the comments were even worse. What those people don't realise, is that their bickering back & forth is a direct parallel to what starts a war in the first place - 2 (or more) parties that can't agree on who's right & who's wrong. I don't doubt that the bombing contributed to the end of the war, but at what cost? As for locking any innocent person up because of where they came from, what colour their skin is or language they speak? That I just don't understand at all. Scientists say that earthquakes etc are the most destructive forces on earth, I guess they are forgetting about the human race!

The fan made videos are really great. The pix of the war should make us remember that nukes can never be used again. If those had been dropped on American soil - many Americans thoughts would be very different on wether it was justifyable to use nukes.

i know that they suffered a lot in that damn war, but nobody forced them to enter to that war in the first place!!!! why they (well... some of them... politicians, army officers, etc) attacked Pearl Harbor for a war that it wasn't even for them. And two, nobody remebers the american prisoners that suffered the same or even more that the japanese families in those internments.... word

I've watched a lot of fan-made videos and your it's just becuase it really fits to a lot different situations ... It's just so awesome! You really are great! For the video it's so sad .. WWII is really a big subject to talk about so i'll just keep all the talk in my head xD I've never heard the "Kenji" before so that was nice to hear it for once!.. :)

that video was really cool and ur lucky in a sence that ur family actually talks bout the war. i have a german background and found out that they almost suffered the same fate in australia, yet they wont talk about the war and what happened which is sad and anoying and is also the reason why ppl make the same mistakes over and over. the only reason that i found out is because i started talking about the Japanese internment in the us which i found out about thanks to u, and then mum tells me that they had internment camps out here during the war. so thankyou for helping uncover something about my family:)

I'm a possible history major. WWII is the most interesting part of the 20th century to me. The problem I have, though, is that high school history books are so brief. I don't recall ever hearing about Japanese internment in America and Canada. I knew there was hostility, but I never knew about internment. To be honest, the only reason I know about it now is because of you. When you hear about WWII, you hear about three things: Pearl Harbor, the Holocaust, and the atomic bombs. Maybe I wasn't paying attention or maybe I wasn't taught it at all. I've read up on it, not extensively, but I get the basics.

I'm enrolled in a WWII course next semester and hoping that we cover it. It's overshadowed by the other events of WWII. Not that those were more or less terrible, but it just seems so hushed in high school history. Like "Let's focus on how the sneaky Japanese attacked us first, how we helped liberate concentration camps, and how we ended the war and paid them back at the same time instead of how we injustly imprisoned people in their own country because of racial prejudice. Let’s focus on the positive shit we did and downplay the negative." I don’t know what aspect of history I’d want to focus on if I do major in it, but internment is something I want to learn about in greater detail.

Every war is evil. Not only for Japanese, but for the whole world. I just want to say that belief is the driving force of the world. War is not a panacea, life and liberty are omnipotent ¨ Memories of the past, when enemies become friends with the peaceful coexistence, we return to quiet ┅ Perhaps, look at the history, and all have the significance of its existence ┅ Finally ,what people need is love and peace. Sorry,my English is very poor. And I hope you can understand. PS:You're a lovely guy:)

This song also can bring me to tears. Really honest story, also makes a point about all what has happened on a personal level too. The video is great too. The pictures and this makes one wonder overall about certain things in the past ans what´s going on now.

Also I´m really excited about the upcoming new art.

post 3 of 3 This kid also during the Civil Rights chapter made it a point to let me know that back then my folks and my brother and I would have been lynched in the south for being mixed ( my mother is black and my father is white). He got lucky i was ignoring his ignorance in how to conversate with people on an intellect scale or else I would have decked him out. sorry for stretching it out to 3 posts it was more than 700 characters

post 2 of 3 I knew I dreaded this subject during history in highschool because in every class there was atleast one person who proved to be ignorant. My senior year, my friend who happens to be half japanese and half white was sitting in front of me during that subject and as the teacher was explaining Pearl Harbor and the bombings this kids a few seats behind me was like "Im glad the Americans blew all those lame Japs to hell every last one deserves to die."
